Regie

Régie. (gheh-zhee'*)

In France, a measure of the density of wort. The legal density is defined as the ratio of the mass of a given volume of liquid (usually 50 centimeters cubed) at 59 °F (15 °C) to that of the mass of an equal volume of water at 39.2 °F (4 °C) (1 liter of water equals 1 kilogram). The Régie density is obtained by moving the comma of the legal density two digits to the right; hence, a legal density of 1,045 equals 4.5 °Régie (°R). Formula: °R equals (legal density - 1,000) X 100. One °Régie equals 2.6 °Balling.
