Malt Liquor

Malt Liquor. (mohlt' li'-ker)

1.  Generally speaking, a beer of higher alcohol content than regular beer.  2.  In the United States, an alternative name given to beers that exceed the alcohol level defined by law and that are therefore too alcoholic to be labeled lager or beer.  On the average they contain 4.5-6 percent alcohol by weight (5.6-7.5 percent alcohol by volume), in contrast to the 3.2-4 percent (4-5 percent alcohol by volume) in standard lager beers.
