Description of this Beer
 Very complex flavor.  There's a lot of stuff going on with this one!  Nicely hopped, roasted barley and chocolate malt meld nicely to create a nicely layered stout with thick flavors and a clean finish.

 

Fermentables
Amount & Type of Fementable (grain, extract, sugar, fruit, etc.)

 11.2  pounds 2-row

  2.0   pounds flaked barley

 1.0    pound oatmeal

1.0    pound roasted barley

1.0   pound special roast

.50  pound chocolate malt

.25  pound rice hulls (aids in lautering, my system sticks with oats and flaked barley)

 

Hops
Amount & Type of Hops, %AA, pellet/whole/plug, time in boil/FWH/Dry Hop/Mash Hop

 3.28 oz  Styrian Goldings  5.4%AA/pellet/60 min

1.5 oz     Chinook  13%AA/pellet/10 min

 


Yeast
Type of Yeast (e.g. Wyeast 1056, White Labs WLP001) Amount Pitched
 Saf-Ale US-05 American Ale yeast  1 pack rehydrated

 

Directions
Include mash temps/times, boil times, fermentation temps/duration, etc.

 Mash @ 151-152 for 90 minutes

Collect enough wort for a 90 minute boil.  Start adding hops at 60 minutes.

Pitch @ 68 degrees.  Ferment @ 68 or lower.  Primary for three weeks.  Rack to keg and force carb or bottle.  Enjoy this Stout!
