Generally, the word export printed on a label stands for superior quality, a product “suitable for exportation,” or a higher than usual alcoholic content. 3. In Germany, a local name for Dortmunder. 4. In Britain, another name for India pale ale from the fact that it was once exported to British troops stationed in India. 5. In Belgium, a legal classification for strong beers that are brewed from original wort gravities of 11–13.5 °P. Since 1974 this classification has been called Category I.
