Creating A New Page

Add A Link To A New Page From An Existing Page

The easiest way to create a new page is to add a link for the page you want to create in an existing page.

1. Click on the "Edit This Page" link on the right side of the page you want to create a link to your new page from (for example if you are creating a new article on a piece of equipment, you would click the "Edit This Page" link from the Equipment page).

2. Type the link for your new page where you want it to appear.  Type the name of your new page between double brackets.  Page names must be at least three characters and can only contain letters or numbers, no spaces or symbols are allowed.  For example, to create a page called "New Page", type in [[NewPage]].  You can edit the page name later if you want.

3. Hit "Save & Close".

4. The link you just created will appear with the link name in single brackets (e.g. [New Page]).  Click on that link.

5. On the page that opens, click on "Create Page".

6. On the page that opens, click on "Submit".

7. Edit the page title if you wish in the Title field.  Then enter your page text, add photos, etc. below the Title field.  To add text or images copied from another document use the appropriate tool in the tool bar (not using the tools for coping and pasting could lead to formatting errors).

8. When you have finished adding your content, hit "Save & Close".

9. You have just added a new page to the HOMEBREWOPEDIA. See Linking To Another Page for instructions on how to link your new page from other relevant pages.

Add A New Page Using The Create A New Page

For an alternative method to the above instructions for creating a new page:

1. Click the "New Page" link under Page Tools to the right of the page or in the system menu. If you do not see this link, it means you do not have access to create new pages or have not yet logged in.

2. After clicking the "New Page" link, you will be prompted for a page name and a template.  Page names must be at least three characters and can only contain letters or numbers, no spaces or symbols are allowed. See Page Names for page naming rules and conventions.  Templates are only used for recipes.

3. Edit the page title if you wish in the Title field.  Then enter your page text, add photos, etc. below the Title field.  To add text or images copied from another document use the appropriate tool in the tool bar (not using the tools for coping and pasting could lead to formatting errors).

4. When you have finished adding your content, hit "Save & Close".

5. You have just added a new page to the HOMEBREWOPEDIA, however, you will need to link the page from an existing page so that others can access it.  See Linking To Another Page for instructions on how to link your new page from other relevant pages.
