Description of this Beer
 Easy drinking English Ale. This version uses the Briess Mild Ale Malt for extra toastiness.

 

Fermentables

 3 lbs Briess Ashburne Mild Malt

4.25 lbs Crisp Maris Otter Malt

0.5 lb Flaked Oats

0.25lbs Crystal 75L

0.12 lbs Carafa III Special

0.12 lbs Roasted Barley

 

Hops
Amount & Type of Hops, %AA, pellet/whole/plug, time in boil/FWH/Dry Hop/Mash Hop

 0.12 oz Target (Pellets) 11.0%AA 60 minutes

0.25 oz Challenger (Pellets) 7.5%AA 30 minutes

 

Other Ingredients
Amount & Type (herbs, spices, wood, finings, etc.), When/Where Added
 1 tablet Whirlfloc

 

Yeast
Type of Yeast (e.g. Wyeast 1056, White Labs WLP001) Amount Pitched

 White Labs WLP022 Essex Ale

OR

Wyeat 1275 Thames Valley Ale

 1 quart starter, decanted

 

Directions
Include mash temps/times, boil times, fermentation temps/duration, etc.

 Mash for 60 minutes at 152F

Boil for 60 minutes

Ferment in mid 60s for one week

Carbonate to 1.5-2.0 volumes CO2
