Blackberry

Blackberries are an small black/purple fruit which hold great promise for the homebrewer. The fruit is indigenous to the northern hemisphere and grows on thorny stalks in well lit locations that have a good water supply.

The intense flavor and dark purple color of blackberries should provide some interesting opportunities for the homebrewer to experiment with. As noted in Randy Moser's Radical Brewing, "the flavor of blackberries is not as intense as raspberries, but should hold up to the brewing process".
