    Any chemical, natural or synthetic, intentionally added to beer for a specific purpose in the course of production, packaging, or storing. Most legislation pertaining to beermaking exempts the labeling of food ingredients (nutritive materials) such as salt, sugar, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, spices, seasonings, flavorings, food enhancers, and others, which fall into other categoies covered by food regulations.
